Only a heartbeat. It sounds like machine-gun shots. There are only rattle and hum. Music contusion.
All this mixed with the cries of the doomed. He lies in a stinking pit, holding with hands his torn belly. He's trying to shove back his dumped guts. To swallow the blood spilling from his mouth.
